Grown Up Days

In 15 days I will be 29 years old. Still young right, I know. But at the same time, as I am trying to think of fun stuff I would like to do for my Birthday Weekend, I have to sit back and think, WOW, I have done a lot in 29 years. I have done a lot in the past 4 years. Being a single mother of two can make you feel a lot older than you are sometimes. :)

Don't get me wrong here, I LOVE MY LIFE!!! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. God has blessed me and my family so much it is beyond words what He has done for us! I do not feel like I have missed out on anything and I love where I am right now. I just think its funny that when I do think of my age, I don't really consider myself a normal 28 year old. How many 28 year olds do you know that LOVE doing laundry! Not just happy about doing it, but will go around the house room to room looking for stuff to wash? That's me. And my favorite thing in to world right now, besides my awesome kiddos, is my carpet cleaner! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cleaning my carpets. Don't be misled here, my house is no where near spotless, and I am no where near a clean freak, I just Love doing little "housewife" things like laundry, cooking, cleaning my carpets. :) Most 28 year olds I know are still out partying or hanging out, and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it's not my life. I did all my partying and hanging out before I had kids. And when my Lord Blessed me with Aviana, all that ended right there. I am more of a home body now and enjoy it 98% of the time. :)

Some days I catch myself thinking, I never thought my life would be like this. It is so funny how God has a totally different set of plans for your life than what you have or want. I never wanted kids, could never imagine myself taking care of something else for that long. God knew what I needed however and I love my princess and my little man more than I have ever loved anything in my whole life. I am still waiting on Him to show me my future husband, but I trust in Him and if that person comes that is fine, if not, it was in God's plan all along. He has provided for us better than any man ever could and I know He will never leave us, so that is good enough for me. :)

I may not know what I am doing for my Birthday yet, but I do know it has been an awesome 29 years that I have been Blessed to be on this earth and I am definitely looking forward to all the other wonderful surprises God, and my kiddos, have in store for me!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th of July everyone! Today the kiddos and I will celebrate by hanging out at home and spending time together. The city where we live had their 4th celebrations last night by having music and fireworks but the kids are still too little for me to take them to a crowded place like that by myself. Maybe next year though. We will have BBQ and brownies later for dinner and that's about it.

I remember when I was younger, we would always go watch the parade and then wait until that night to go to the park and hang out until the fireworks started. I loved the 4th of July! It was a tradition that we looked forward to the whole year long! I hope to be able to start new 4th of July traditions with my kids pretty soon so they will love this holiday as much as I did one day!

oh and no, I didn't make that cake, I just thought it was so cute!

Adrian's First Haircut!

Before

We all remember my baby's little fro he had. But I just couldn't take it any longer. He needed a haircut bad! So this post is a little late, but 2 days ago, Adrian got his first haircut and I think he looks SOOO much better!! Most people always saw his hair first, but now they see what a cute little boy was actually under that hair!

Watching movies with the kiddos

So this weekend we got Disney's Little Mermaid from Netflix. I didn't know what to expect from the kids when I put it in the dvd player, but they both set down and watched it. It's so weird to be able to watch the same movies that I watched as a kid with my own kids and have them actually like them. I even bought Aviana a Little Mermaid puzzle from the Dollar Store and she loves it. She kept saying, "Mommy, I wanna watch the Little Mermaid again please." So I went back on Netflix and added all of my other favorites, Toy Story, Snow White, The Lion King, Bambi, and Fox and Hound. I also added ones I haven't seen yet like Princess and the Frog. I can't wait for us to watch all of these together over and over like I used to when I was little. Ahhh... Memories. :)

I LOVE NAPTIME!!!

What mother doesn't love naptime? It is a chance for us to have time to ourselves again. Usually I take a nap too when the kids are asleep, but today I am so proud of myself that I stayed awake. Instead I cleaned out my closet and now it is so beautiful again. I wished I had taken before pictures for you guys to see it, but I was kinda ashamed of it. I had cleaned the whole house top to bottom in May, but all the stuff that didn't really have an official home got thrown in my closet. So today I pulled all the mess out and got to work. 2 hours later, I have a beautiful and organized closet, and tomorrow the Goodwill Store will be receiving two huge trash bags full of clothes that I no longer wear. It was funny because it was easy for me to give away old clothes that didn't fit anymore, but I kept all my maternity clothes. I guess I figured I would have another child before I lost the 30lbs to fit back into a size 11. I did find 4 brand new shirts with tags still on them so it was definatly worth it! :)

My closet is a pretty good sized walk-in and besides all my clothes in there, this is where I keep all the holiday decorations and my "gift and activity center" -toys, books, activities, etc that I have bought supper cheap for the kids for birthdays and holidays. So if its a rainy day or a holiday and I just go to the closet and BAM! instant presents. The key to this is to shop after holidays and especially after Christmas when toys and decorations are 75-90% off. I bought Aviana a crawling baby doll for $3 last year that will be one of her main B-Day presents this year. I was inspired to start this "center" after I spent well over $300 last Christmas on just a few toys and decorations. NEVER AGAIN. I am to cheap for that! :)

Great Day...

You know those days when you realize how blessed you truely are? Well today was one of those days. It was weird, but in a good way. It started this morning at work. A lady from Olive Garden came to our job with two big bags of food and said that every Thursday they pick a business and take them free lunch. No questions asked. The employees were exctited because they all got free lunch. It was funny because that morning I was running late and didn't have time to stop and pick up something for breakfast but I was thinking about it the whole way to work. God works in very mysterious ways. Who would have ever thought Olive Garden would just randomly donate food to a big business and someone would just randomly show up and give you food... From Olive Garden. And my job is not a small little mom and pop shop either by the way.I am still amazed.

My day went by very slow after that, but I was able to get all my work done and nothing bad happened so that's always a good thing. :) Then I get home and the kids are being good for the most part, so I check my mail and I have a message from an old friend of mine. I had sent him a message a few days ago but thought maybe he was just too busy or didn't care anymore to respond back... Once again God works in very mysterious ways. It was nice to hear from him and even though our "season" has come and gone, I still think about him from time to time. So it's nice to at least say "Hi, I thought about you today".

God has always been with me and He has done so much for my family and my life. He never stops amazing me with His Awesome love and all the ways he can brighten my day with the simplest little things. He always knows what we need and will always meet those needs even if it comes in some totally unexpected form. Thank you dear God, for all of you do for me. :)

Pink Eye and a New Tooth

You would never guess looking at this picture that Adrian probably feels really bad today. He has been grumpy and not a happy little baby all day. Yesterday when I picked him up from daycare they said another little boy had been sent home on Monday with pink eye and Adrian's eye looked puffy as well. Um, no, Mommy has to work little boy. You can not be catching contagious diseases at your daycare. You leave those alone right now young man!

But lucky for us, Aviana had pink eye last year and we still had some drops left so I was able to treat it and its a lot better now. If you have ever never had it, its gross. You are cleaning "eye boogies" out all day. :( Ah, the joys of parenthood.

But oh a happier note, Adrian does have another tooth on the bottom finally coming in. So that will be 4 on top, 3 on the bottom. All the more to bite his sister with and all the other little kids that get in his way. (kidding)

As for Aviana, she is still potty training, but doing a really good job at it. She usually doesn't have an accident and has even moved up to using the big potty now. She even pooped in it tonight all by herself! Yay! But we had a little setback a few hours later when she pooped in her "underwears". I don't understand how she is fine all the other times but then has a random accident... Once again, the joys of parenting.

Fun with a box...

What is it about sitting in a box that is so much fun? I don't know but the kids fell in love with this Huggies box last night. Thank God CVS has a great sale on them right now because of course they will not let me throw it away and they both want in it at the same time. So we will be making another trip tomorrow for another huge box of Huggies, not for the diapers, although they will be used, just for the box so they can each have their own and no more sitting on each other in that tiny little box... :(

My First Ever Post!

Yay! I have been wanting to start a blog for some time now to be able to detail all my kiddos new adventures and activities. And by kiddos I mean Aviana who is almost 3 and my little princess, and Adrian who is 16 months and surprises me with a new word every single day. :) Yep, those are my babies.
As for myself, I am a 28 year old single mother who works full time and loves spending time with my kids. I can't wait till they get older and we can go on vacations and little trips together. But I am enjoying the toddler years just fine for now. :)
